# What is a Single Track Edit?

> Learn what a Single Track Edit is and how cuts are set up for the edit.

## So.... What is a Single Track Edit?

**Im glad you asked!** Single Track Edits edits made to one song at a time (like trimming, rearranging, or adjusting length, structure, or style). You can include as many Single Track Edits as you’d like in a Project. The more you add, the cheaper each edit becomes — so larger projects give you a better value.

## What are cuts?

Cuts are the specific sections of a song that you want included in your Single Track Edit. Think of them as the start and end points that define which parts of the track stay in the final version.

**For Single Track Edits:** A cut is simply the portion of the song you want to keep. You can have just one cut (like keeping the first 60 seconds), or multiple cuts that are stitched together.

**Here are some Single Track Edit examples:**

<Tabs>
  <Tab title="Example 1">
    In this example, there are three cuts. When the first cut reaches 0:33, the track seamlessly transitions to the second cut at 1:22. The same process then occurs for the third cut, which continues playing through the end of the song.

    **First Cut:** 0:00 – 0:33\
    **Second Cut:** 1:22 – 1:45\
    **Third Cut:** 2:45 – End
  </Tab>

  <Tab title="Example 2">
    In this example, the track uses a single cut that plays continuously. A fade-out begins at the specified time and lasts up to 8 seconds to create a smooth ending.

    **Single Cut:** 0:00 – End\
    **Fade Out:** Start at 2:52, 8-second fade
  </Tab>

  <Tab title="Example 3">
    In this example, the track is divided into three cuts with an added sound effect to enhance the transition into the final section. Each cut transitions smoothly to maintain flow.

    **First Cut:** 0:00 – 0:28\
    **Second Cut:** 1:10 – 1:42\
    **Third Cut:** 2:30 – End

    **Notes:**

    * Add a subtle riser or whoosh sound effect during the transition into the third cut.
    * The sound FX should begin slightly before the second cut ends and resolve right as the third cut starts for a seamless, energetic transition.
  </Tab>
</Tabs>

**In short:** Cuts = the exact time ranges you want used in your edit. They let you shape how the song flows, whether it’s trimming down a single track or building a seamless multi-song mix.
